Bahraich Deploys High-Tech Scanners to Secure Indo-Nepal Border
Authorities in Bahraich district have launched a pilot project to enhance security along the Indo-Nepal border. They installed advanced face and ID scanners at the Rupaidiha checkpost. This initiative aims to prevent suspicious individuals from crossing the border illegally.
How the New System Works
Under this project, every person must undergo scanning before entering India or traveling to Nepal. The system verifies identity documents and matches facial features using high-tech cameras. It collects comprehensive data on all pedestrians and vehicles moving across the border.
SSB 42nd Battalion commandant Ganga Singh Udaawat explained the process. He stated that the system records complete details and reads facial features. This technology greatly assists in monitoring movement effectively.
Addressing Security Challenges
In recent times, many Pakistani and other foreign nationals attempted to enter India from Nepal without valid visas. SSB personnel caught numerous such individuals and sent them to jail. The Indo-Nepal border in this region spans nearly 125 kilometers and remains largely open. This openness makes it an easy route for illegal crossings.
Commandant Udaawat highlighted the system's benefits. He said it will become easier to identify and apprehend anti-national elements. This includes nationals from countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, or China. The system will also maintain precise records of who crossed the border and at what time.
Future Plans and Impact
Since the project just launched, minor issues may arise initially. However, Udaawat emphasized that in the long run, it will enhance national security significantly. It will also make movement easier for residents of border areas.
Once the pilot project gains approval, authorities plan to install more cameras and systems. This expansion will further strengthen border monitoring and control measures across the region.
