IRCTC has launched a major crackdown on suspicious ticket-booking activity, deactivating over 3 crore user IDs and placing another 6 crore accounts under verification. The move is aimed at curbing misuse of the reservation system and improving ticket access for genuine passengers.
AI-Powered Monitoring in Railway Kitchens
At the same time, IRCTC has expanded AI-powered monitoring across more than 800 railway kitchens through nearly 2,400 smart cameras that detect hygiene violations, pests and food safety lapses in real time.
Impact on Ticket Availability and Food Quality
As Indian Railways increasingly turns to technology, these measures are expected to improve both ticket availability for genuine passengers and food quality in railway kitchens. The AI cameras can identify issues such as improper handling of ingredients, unclean surfaces, and pest infestations, enabling swift corrective action.
This dual approach addresses two major pain points for railway travelers: the difficulty of booking tickets due to automated bots and touts, and concerns about food hygiene in trains and stations. By verifying user accounts and deploying advanced surveillance, IRCTC aims to restore trust and efficiency in its services.
