NIT Jalandhar Launches Major Cybersecurity Training Hub
Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology in Jalandhar has officially opened a new Centre of Excellence dedicated to cybersecurity. This initiative receives strong backing from the Ministry of Minority Affairs under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram scheme. The centre emerges at a crucial moment when digital threats are expanding in both complexity and reach across the nation.

The centre sets a clear target to train approximately four thousand individuals. Nearly half of these trainees, around two thousand students, will come from minority communities. Professor Binod Kumar Kanujia, the director of NIT Jalandhar, highlighted the national importance of this project. He stated that cybersecurity now represents a critical priority for India. The institute aims to build a skilled workforce through this centre. Institute officials designed the Centre of Excellence as a complete hub for training, research, innovation, and consultancy in the cybersecurity field. It features cyber academic learning modules, advanced client workstations, and specialized cyber range environments.
This modern infrastructure allows for realistic simulations of cyberattacks and defence strategies. Learners can participate in large-scale red and blue team exercises. They gain hands-on experience in a secure, controlled setting that mirrors actual cybersecurity challenges faced by organizations today.
Structured Programs for Diverse Learners
Skill development forms the core mission of this new centre. It will offer organized training programs lasting from two to six months. The centre will also conduct shorter workshops and awareness sessions.
