The Bengaluru traffic police have announced traffic restrictions on Varthur Main Road on May 30, 2026, due to ongoing construction work for the metro rail project. The restrictions will be in place from early morning until late evening, as per the official notification.

According to the traffic police, the stretch of Varthur Main Road between the Varthur junction and the Hoodi junction will be closed to vehicular movement during the construction period. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays. The police have urged motorists to cooperate and plan their travel accordingly.
Alternative Routes Recommended
As an alternative, vehicles can take the road via Marathahalli Bridge and proceed towards Whitefield. Those traveling from the opposite direction can use the service road alongside the metro construction site. The restrictions are part of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) project to extend the metro network in the eastern suburbs.
Public Cooperation Sought
The traffic police have requested the public to remain patient and follow the directions of traffic personnel deployed at key junctions. They also advised using public transport where possible to reduce congestion. The restrictions are expected to last for the entire day, with normal traffic resuming from the next day.
This development comes as the BMRCL accelerates work on the much-anticipated metro line, which aims to improve connectivity in Bengaluru's rapidly growing eastern corridor. Commuters are encouraged to stay updated through official traffic bulletins and plan their journeys accordingly.
