The historic Mysuru Railway Museum, a cherished heritage site managed by the South Western Railway's Mysuru division, has taken a significant step toward modernization by introducing a QR-based digital payment facility for ticket purchases. This initiative, launched on Friday, marks a pivotal enhancement in visitor convenience at one of Karnataka's most popular tourist destinations.

Addressing Visitor Demands for Cashless Transactions

Pruthvi S Hullatti, the divisional finance manager and Public Relations Officer for the Mysuru division, highlighted that there had been consistent requests from visitors for a digital ticketing option. In a conversation with The Times of India, Hullatti explained that the lack of digital payments for tickets had been a notable gap, especially since other commercial establishments within the museum premises, such as the cafeteria, already utilized such modes. He emphasized that this new system aims to provide a safe, cashless, and hassle-free payment experience, benefiting both patrons and staff members who previously struggled with providing exact change.

Implementation Following Public Feedback

The move to digital payments comes after a report by The Times of India on December 19, which pointed out the absence of a digital payment mode for tickets at the museum. In response, Mudit Mittal, the divisional railway manager of the SWR Mysuru division, had committed to implementing this facility at the earliest opportunity. True to that promise, the museum has now integrated UPI and QR code scanning capabilities, allowing visitors to seamlessly pay for entry tickets and various other services on-site.
