Nagaland Issues Guidelines for Census 2027 Self-Enumeration

The Nagaland government on Wednesday issued a directive asking officials of various government departments and the general public to follow the step-by-step user guide for self-enumeration during the 15-day Phase-I of the Census 2027 exercise, which is scheduled to be held from June 16.

The self-enumeration process will be conducted through the official portal https://se.census.gov.in. According to a government notification, self-enumeration (SE) is a process in the census where residents fill and submit their household data online. The SE portal will remain open for 15 days prior to the commencement of house-to-house listing operations (HLO) by the enumerator. The opening date and active period will be displayed on the portal.

The notification stated that the entire process may take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. After successful submission, a unique self-enumeration ID (SE ID) will be generated for each household. The directive listed nine steps for self-enumeration on the portal, which include access and initial login, household registration, language selection and OTP verification, location details of residence, locating residence on the map, completing the questionnaire, review of entered data, final submission, and field validation.

This notification was issued in exercise of the powers conferred by Rule 8 (ii) b and (vii) of the Census Rules, 1990, which were established under the provisions of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948). The move is in conformity with the government's commitment to the Digital India initiative, aiming to streamline census operations through digital means.

Residents are encouraged to complete the self-enumeration process within the specified period to ensure accurate and timely data collection. The step-by-step guide is designed to assist users in navigating the portal efficiently, reducing errors and enhancing the overall census experience. For further assistance, individuals can refer to the user guide available on the official portal or contact local census authorities.
