The Patna administration has announced temporary traffic diversions in several parts of the city to facilitate sewerage and flyover maintenance work ahead of the monsoon season.
Sewerage Project Work in Patliputra
Under the Digha-Kankarbagh Sewerage Project, the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (BUIDCO) has initiated urgent construction work in the Patliputra area. The project aims to address long-standing issues of waterlogging and poor sanitation in the region.
Traffic Restrictions from May 18 to May 30
Traffic restrictions in the Patliputra Circle will be in effect from May 18 to May 30. During this period, general vehicles will not be allowed to pass through the BIADA Gate near Rajiv Nagar Underpass. Commuters are advised to use an alternative route via BIADA Road towards Atal Path. Additionally, movement of general vehicles on the service lane of Atal Path from A N College to Rajiv Nagar Underpass will remain prohibited.
BUIDCO Managing Director Animesh Kumar Parashar has directed officials to complete the work quickly while minimizing inconvenience to the public. He urged commuters to follow alternative routes and adhere to traffic police instructions.
Night-Time Restrictions on Flyover
Separately, Patna traffic police have imposed night-time traffic restrictions on the GPO Patna-R Block Golamber flyover route for maintenance work. The south lane of the flyover, covering a 660-metre stretch, will remain affected until May 27.
Vehicle movement on this stretch will be completely prohibited every night from midnight to 5 am. Commuters are requested to avoid using this route during the restricted hours and opt for alternative roads to prevent inconvenience, Patna traffic police said in a statement on Sunday.
These measures are part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and ensure safety during the monsoon season. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with authorities.
