A passenger train traveling from Sasaram to Patna caught fire on Wednesday, triggering panic among passengers. The incident occurred near Sasaram in Bihar, with flames suddenly erupting from one of the coaches. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported as passengers were evacuated swiftly.
Incident Details
The fire broke out in the general compartment of the train around noon. As smoke began to fill the coach, passengers raised an alarm, prompting the train to halt. Many jumped off the train in fear, while others used emergency exits to escape. Railway officials and local authorities rushed to the spot to manage the situation.
Quick Response by Fire Brigade
The fire brigade arrived promptly and managed to douse the flames within an hour. Preliminary investigations suggest a possible short circuit in the electrical wiring of the coach may have caused the fire. The coach was detached from the rest of the train to prevent the fire from spreading.
Passengers were later transferred to another train to continue their journey. Senior railway officials are at the site, and a detailed inquiry has been ordered to determine the exact cause of the fire. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken if any negligence is found.
Passenger Safety Measures
