Fujifilm Unveils Instax Mini Evo Cinema Hybrid Camera in India

Fujifilm has officially launched the instax mini Evo Cinema, a groundbreaking hybrid instant camera that seamlessly blends analog nostalgia with modern digital capabilities, in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 47,999, this innovative device allows users to capture both still photographs and 15-second video clips, which are then transformed into instax mini prints embedded with QR codes.

Unique Features and Pre-Booking Details

The camera offers a unique experience where physical prints serve as portals to digital memories. By scanning the QR code on the print, users can instantly relive the captured moment through moving footage. Pre-bookings for the instax mini Evo Cinema will be open from January 21 to January 27 exclusively on instax.in. Early customers will receive two bonus designer film packs, each containing 10 shots, in addition to the standard combo box that includes the camera and two regular film packs. Deliveries are scheduled to commence from January 28 onwards.

Eras Dial: A Nostalgic Touch to Modern Photography

The standout feature of this camera is the Eras Dial, which brings vintage film aesthetics to contemporary shooting. It offers 10 distinct effects inspired by different decades, including:

  • 1960s 8mm film grain
  • 1970s color CRT
  • 1980s 35mm negatives
  • Early 2010s smartphone filters

Each effect comes with 10 adjustable intensity levels, creating a total of 100 possible combinations that influence visuals, noise, and sound processing, allowing for highly personalized creative expression.

Design and User Experience

The camera's design pays homage to Fujifilm's heritage, featuring a vertical grip that mimics the iconic 1965 FUJICA Single-8 camera. It includes a tactile Print Lever that replicates the experience of winding film, adding to the nostalgic feel. Users can frame their shots using the rear LCD screen or attach the included viewfinder for a handheld movie camera experience, enhancing versatility in shooting styles.

Companion App and Enhanced Functionality

A dedicated companion app further extends the camera's capabilities, enabling users to:

  1. Edit videos by combining clips with cinematic templates
  2. Design poster-style prints with custom titles
  3. Use the Direct Print feature to convert smartphone photos into instax mini prints

This integration ensures that the camera is not just a standalone device but part of a broader creative ecosystem.

Official Statement and Market Impact

"The instax mini Evo Cinema reflects our philosophy by combining cinematic creativity with the emotional value of instant prints," said Koji Wada, Managing Director of Fujifilm India. He emphasized the camera's role in preserving memories in a tangible form, moving beyond the ephemeral nature of digital feeds to offer lasting physical keepsakes.

This launch marks a significant step in Fujifilm's strategy to cater to the growing demand for hybrid devices that merge traditional photography with digital innovation, particularly in a market like India where instant cameras have seen a resurgence in popularity.
