The Indian Air Force has reportedly deployed a fresh batch of specially finished Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUVs to its fleet, and they could easily be among the most striking-looking official Scorpios seen in India so far. These cars are finished in a unique shade of Air Force Blue, a color not offered on civilian versions.
Spotted on Public Roads
A video of the SUVs has surfaced online, showing around five to six Scorpio Classics travelling together on public roads in Delhi. While the Scorpio has long been used by Indian armed forces and police departments across the country, these Air Force-spec models stand out due to their distinctive blue paint job. Mahindra does not offer this particular shade on the regular civilian version, making these vehicles exclusive to the Air Force.
Built for Duty
The Scorpio has built a strong reputation within Indian defence and government fleets over the years. Its ladder-frame construction, high ground clearance, and proven diesel engine have made it a preferred choice for on-ground duties in many parts of the country. Interestingly, these newly inducted Air Force SUVs appear to be mostly standard rear-wheel-drive Scorpio Classic S11 models. The interiors seen in the video remain largely unchanged from the standard civilian model, emphasizing functionality over luxury.
Engine and Pricing
The Mahindra Scorpio Classic S11 is currently priced at Rs 16.99 lakh. It is powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This powertrain ensures reliable performance for various operational requirements.
