Noida International Airport: What Works and What Needs Attention
Noida International Airport has commenced operations, offering road connectivity through major expressways, limited airline services, complimentary WiFi, and passenger assistance. However, expensive cab fares and inadequate facilities continue to pose challenges.
Easy Access Through Expressways
The airport is linked via the Noida Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway link road. With current traffic volumes low, the approach from the Yamuna Expressway remains smooth and relatively stress-free.
Cab Fares Higher Than IGI Airport
NIA is served by Ola, Uber, Rapido, Mahindra Mobility, and Mann Fleet, while UPSRTC buses provide last-mile connectivity. However, fares from Noida range between Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,200, which is higher than those at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Free WiFi, But Network Issues Reported
Passengers can access one hour of free WiFi through Fusionnet by selecting the airport network and completing OTP verification. Some users reported slow internet speeds and unexpected disconnections on the opening day.
Airport Expected to Drive Industrial Growth
The airport is anticipated to attract manufacturing units, logistics parks, warehouses, and allied industries across the Yamuna Expressway region. Improved connectivity could also boost demand for commercial and industrial land.
Flight Network Still Limited
Operations have started with only two airlines. IndiGo will connect the airport to 16 cities, while Akasa Air has launched services to two destinations, leaving route options relatively limited.
Fast Exit Process Wins Praise
Passengers currently rate the airport highly for quick movement through the terminal. Travellers can complete arrivals and exit the airport in around 15 minutes under present traffic conditions.
Premium Assistance Available for Travellers
Through its partnership with Elite Assist, the airport offers concierge and Meet & Assist services. Staff can assist with check-in, airline formalities, boarding procedures, and porter support for passengers.
Lack of Amenities Outside Terminal
Only one food stall is operating outside the terminal building. Visitors, drivers, and family members waiting at the airport currently have no washroom facilities within the immediate airport zone.
