In a significant push to position Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of next-generation technology, the state government is launching a massive skill-building initiative in the quantum computing sector. The flagship programme will be inaugurated with a special digital address by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
CM's 'Quantum Talk' to Chart State's Roadmap
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will deliver a keynote address titled 'Quantum Talk' to technology students across the state on Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM. The event is being organized jointly by the Andhra Pradesh government in collaboration with leading quantum technology firms, Qubit and Wyser. During his interaction, Naidu is expected to outline a long-term vision and policy direction for developing quantum technologies in the state, focusing on research, industry, governance, and innovation.
The initiative has already witnessed overwhelming interest from the student community. Over 50,000 technology students have registered for the programme within just ten days of the enrollment window opening. A notable and encouraging trend is that women account for 51 percent of the total registrations, signaling a growing female participation in advanced STEM fields.
Building a Future-Ready Quantum Workforce
This programme is a core part of the state's strategy to develop Amaravati as a national hub for quantum technology. To operationalize this vision, the government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the partner firms, Qubit and Wyser. The broader goal is to create a skilled human resource base aligned with global technological demands.
The initiative includes a competitive selection process for advanced training and coveted internships. From the pool of registered participants, the top 3,000 performers will be chosen for advanced-level training in quantum technologies. Furthermore, 100 outstanding students will be offered internships with premier organizations like IBM and TCS, as well as central government institutions such as CSIR, C-DAC, and the National Quantum Mission. These opportunities are designed to provide hands-on experience in real-world quantum science applications.
Ambitious Targets and National Alignment
Aligned with the objectives of India's National Quantum Mission, the Andhra Pradesh government has set an ambitious target of training one lakh quantum professionals from the state over the next three years. The event will also be attended by several eminent experts, including Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology; Prof V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras; and Prachi Vakharia, Director of Wyser, among others.
This concerted effort marks a major technological leap for Andhra Pradesh, aiming not only to establish infrastructure like the Amaravati quantum computing centre but also to ensure a steady pipeline of talent to fuel innovation and economic growth in this critical emerging sector.
