Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Northern State Medical University (NSMU) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The agreement aims to promote academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation between the two institutions.
Signing Ceremony
The MoU was signed in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi and senior functionaries from both sides. From BHU, Registrar Prof. Arun Kumar Singh signed the MoU, while from the Russian side, Acting Rector Bylova N. A. was the official signatory.
Objectives of the MoU
The agreement is designed to encourage exchange initiatives involving students, researchers, academic staff, and technical personnel. It aims to strengthen specialized human resources and advance scientific progress through collaborative efforts.
Under the MoU, both institutions will support academic mobility through exchange programmes and collaborative academic initiatives. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi stated that the MoU paves the way for new avenues of mutual collaboration and cooperation, enabling both institutions to benefit from each other's expertise and experiences.
He further emphasized that internship opportunities for students from both sides should be explored to provide practical exposure and a broader international perspective.
Remarks from Russian Counterpart
Natalia Anikina, Dean of NSMU, Russia, expressed that the understanding would open new pathways for growth and excellence for students and staff of both universities. She informed that NSMU currently hosts nearly 1,500 Indian students and possesses extensive health infrastructure, offering state-of-the-art medical education and research facilities.
This partnership is expected to enhance academic ties and foster mutual growth in the fields of medicine and research.
