DTU Students Win Rs 15 Lakh for AI Bio-Solar Panel

New Delhi: A team of students from Delhi Technological University (DTU) has secured second place at the prestigious Rajasthan Green Innovation Challenge, held at Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur, for developing an AI-powered bio-solar panel. The team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh and was felicitated by Bhajan Lal Sharma.

Innovative Sustainable Energy Solution

The team, led by students Shubhika and Pradeep Patel under the guidance of Jai Gopal Sharma from DTU’s Department of Biotechnology, created the sustainable energy solution using organic waste-based technology. This innovation aims to enhance solar power generation while promoting environmental sustainability.

Prateek Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of DTU, said, “The AI-powered bio-solar panel developed by our students is an inspiring example of how technology and environmental responsibility can come together to address global challenges. India must demonstrate to the world, particularly the Global South, that development goals can be achieved without compromising sustainability.”

Significance of the Achievement

The Rajasthan Green Innovation Challenge is a platform that encourages young innovators to develop solutions for environmental issues. The DTU team’s project stood out for its novel approach to integrating artificial intelligence with bio-based materials to improve the efficiency of solar panels. The organic waste used in the panel helps in reducing waste and generating clean energy simultaneously.

The cash prize of Rs 15 lakh will support further research and development of the prototype. The team plans to refine the technology and explore commercial applications. This recognition not only highlights the talent at DTU but also underscores the potential of interdisciplinary research in solving real-world problems.

The event saw participation from numerous colleges across India, with the DTU team being one of the top performers. Their success is expected to inspire other students to pursue innovative projects in renewable energy and sustainability.
