Samsung has taken a significant step in empowering India's youth with future-ready skills by certifying hundreds of students in Andhra Pradesh. The tech giant's Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) programme recently held back-to-back felicitation ceremonies in Visakhapatnam, recognizing the achievements of 750 young learners in cutting-edge technological domains.
Visakhapatnam Ceremonies Mark a Key Milestone
The dual events, held at Vignan’s Institute of Information Technology and DIET College, underscored Samsung's deepening commitment to preparing students for a technology-driven economy. At Vignan College, a total of 500 students received their completion certificates. This cohort was evenly split, with 250 students certified in Artificial Intelligence and another 250 in Coding & Programming.
The ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries including Dr. B. Ravi Kiran, ACP of Cyber Crime CID, and Dr. Sudhakar Jyothula, Principal of Vignan College. Mr. Saroj Apato, Vice President for Strategic Partnerships at the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), also attended, highlighting the industry-academia collaboration.
In a separate event at DIET College, 250 more students were felicitated for successfully completing specialised training in Artificial Intelligence. The college's Chairman, Sri Dadi Ratnakar Garu, and Principal, Dr. Rugada Vaikunta Rao, joined in celebrating the students' accomplishments.
Driving Local Innovation and Employment
Across both events, dignitaries emphasized the critical role of advanced digital skills in shaping Andhra Pradesh's economic future. They congratulated the students and pointed out how such skilling initiatives are vital for boosting local employment, fostering innovation, and encouraging entrepreneurship within the state.
The Samsung Innovation Campus is on a rapid expansion path across the country. After training approximately 3,500 students nationwide in the previous year, the programme has set an ambitious target for 2025. Samsung aims to skill a staggering 20,000 students across 10 Indian states, representing a nearly six-fold increase in reach.
Alignment with National Goals and Inclusive Access
This initiative is strategically aligned with the Government of India's flagship Skill India and Digital India missions. The curriculum focuses on high-demand areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and Coding & Programming.
A key feature of the programme is its focus on equitable access. Nationally, women constitute 42% of all participants, reflecting Samsung's commitment to bridging the gender gap in tech education. The company is executing this mission through accredited partners like the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the Telecom Sector Skills Council of India (TSSC).
The training delivered is comprehensive, covering not just technical knowledge but also essential soft skills and placement readiness. A core priority is to reach students in underserved and semi-urban districts, ensuring that youth from diverse socio-economic backgrounds can actively participate in and benefit from India's ongoing digital transformation.
