Bengaluru: Critical tests by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) for Namma Metro's Pink Line will commence on Tuesday, with inspections scheduled to continue until May 12, according to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials.
RDSO Inspection and Certification Process
After the inspection, RDSO will analyse the test data and issue an interim speed certification. This will be followed by an inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CRS), whose report will be submitted to the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety and subsequently to the Railway Board for technical sanction for the new rolling stock.
Timeline for Clearance
The multi-stage clearance process is expected to take two to three months. Once clearance is secured, BMRCL will approach the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) for authorization to open the line.
Current Status of Pink Line
So far, BMRCL has received five train sets for the 7-kilometre elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere. The entire 21-kilometre corridor from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, including the underground section from Dairy Circle to Nagawara, is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
Yellow Line Update
Meanwhile, the Yellow Line (RV Road-Bommasandra) received its 10th train set from Titagarh Rail Systems on Monday. Eight trains are currently operational on the line, and testing of the ninth train will commence shortly.
