In a recent operation, the Shimla district police arrested an individual and seized 5.6 kilograms of cannabis. The arrest was made during a routine check at a checkpoint in the district. The accused has been identified and is currently in police custody.
The police acted on a tip-off and intercepted a vehicle suspected of carrying contraband. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered the cannabis hidden in a secret compartment. The estimated value of the seized drugs is yet to be determined.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and investigations are ongoing to trace the source and network behind the supply. The police are questioning the accused to gather more information about the drug trafficking ring operating in the area.
This is part of a larger crackdown on drug trafficking in Himachal Pradesh, where authorities have intensified checks and surveillance to curb the illegal trade. The police have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug abuse and trafficking.
