Bengaluru: Public transport faced severe disruptions as flooding choked key transit points across the city. In the southern parts, waterlogging around the Jayadeva Hospital Metro station on the Yellow Line rendered roads toward Silk Board partially non-motorable, forcing traffic into a single lane. The Silk Board Metro station premises were also inundated, worsening congestion, especially with the double-decker flyover remaining shut. At KSR Bengaluru railway station, passengers struggled to find cabs and auto-rickshaws, while a fallen tree near the third entry damaged several parked vehicles.
Impact on Under-Construction Lines
Even under-construction Pink Line stations along Bannerghatta Road experienced flooding, with poor road conditions near Tavarekere further slowing vehicular movement. The waterlogging has raised concerns about the preparedness of infrastructure to handle monsoon rains.
Commuters Face Difficulties
Commuters reported long delays and lack of alternative transport options. Many were seen walking long distances to reach their destinations. The situation is expected to improve as water recedes, but authorities have advised caution.
