Bhopal: Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the poaching of a tiger in Narsinghpur district, officials said on Tuesday. A team of forest officials conducted a raid and recovered a tiger hide, skull, and nails, along with body parts of other wild animals, from the accused.
Details of the Arrest
Divisional Forest Officer Swarup Dixit stated that acting on a tip-off, forest officials apprehended five persons from Jamunia village. During the search, they seized a tiger hide, skull, and four nails. The accused confessed to killing the tiger about a month ago by strangling it with a noose in the Kareli range of Hinotiya village.
Investigation Ongoing
The forest department is hopeful that the accused will provide further information about a wider network involved in the trafficking of wildlife articles. The investigation is ongoing to identify other individuals and groups engaged in such illegal activities.
This incident highlights the continued threat to wildlife in the region and the efforts of forest officials to curb poaching. The recovered items have been sent for forensic analysis to gather more evidence.
