Gurgaon: Cloudy skies, intermittent showers, and cool winds kept temperatures in check across the city on Wednesday, offering residents continued relief from the intense heat experienced earlier this month. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 21°C and a maximum of 36.1°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Temperature and Rainfall Data
Data showed that the Gurgaon automatic weather station (AWS) recorded a minimum temperature of 21°C, while the Gurgaon KVK and NorthCap University stations registered lows of 22.8°C and 23.1°C, respectively. Light rainfall during the previous 24 hours also contributed to the cooler conditions, with the Gurgaon AWS recording 3.5 mm of rain and NorthCap University receiving 6.5 mm.
Although daytime temperatures rose compared to Tuesday, they remained within a comfortable range due to persistent cloud cover. The Gurgaon AWS recorded a maximum temperature of 36.1°C, up 3.7°C from the previous day. Gurgaon KVK registered 35.9°C, while NorthCap University recorded the district’s highest maximum temperature at 38.1°C.
Broader Trend Across Haryana
The cooler weather was part of a broader trend across Haryana. The IMD said the state’s average minimum temperature was 2.1°C below normal on Wednesday, while the average maximum temperature rose by 3.5°C and remained near normal. Narnaul was the coolest place in the state, recording a minimum temperature of 20°C, while Bhiwani recorded Haryana’s highest maximum temperature at 39.5°C.
Several districts received light rainfall over the past 24 hours. Hisar recorded the highest rainfall among major observatories at 9 mm, followed by Rohtak at 6.6 mm and Narnaul at 4.5 mm. The showers helped suppress daytime heating and bring temperatures down across much of the state.
Meteorological Explanation
Meteorologists attributed the pleasant conditions to ongoing pre-monsoon activity and moisture incursion over northwestern India. Increased cloud cover and scattered rainfall have prevented temperatures from rising sharply despite advancing summer conditions.
Forecast for Next Two Days
The IMD has forecast partly cloudy to generally cloudy skies over Gurgaon over the next two days, with the possibility of light rain or thunderstorms at isolated places. Day temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-30s, while nights are likely to stay cooler than seasonal averages.
