NHAI clears encroachments on Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) conducted a special encroachment clearance drive on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru stretch of NH-75 in coordination with tahsildars and the police department.

According to a release from the authority, the operation focused on restoring the highway's right of way by removing unauthorised access points to ensure smoother traffic flow and enhance road safety for commuters. "Encroachments and roadside obstructions were systematically removed under the supervision of local administrative officials," the release stated.

NHAI Mangaluru project director Abdulla Javed Azmi said that the district administration and police provided security and crowd management support, helping officials carry out the drive effectively. The authority further stated that similar drives will continue this month along NH-66 and other national highways in Dakshina Kannada.

The drive is part of a broader initiative by NHAI to clear encroachments across the region, ensuring that highways remain safe and free of illegal structures. Local authorities have urged residents to cooperate with the ongoing efforts to maintain clear rights of way. "We aim to make travel safer and more efficient for everyone," an NHAI official added.
