Bengaluru Metro Extends Hours for New Year's Eve, MG Road Station Shuts at 10 PM
Bengaluru Metro New Year's Eve: Extended Hours, MG Road Closed

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has unveiled special operational plans for New Year's Eve, extending train services across its network to accommodate the massive influx of celebrants. In a key move to manage crowds, the corporation will shut the MG Road metro station for both entry and exit from 10 pm on December 31, 2025.

Extended Timings for Nightlong Celebrations

To facilitate safe and convenient travel for revelers, BMRCL will run trains much later than usual. On the Purple Line, the final service from Whitefield to Challaghatta will depart at 1.45 am on January 1. The last train in the reverse direction, from Challaghatta to Whitefield, will leave at 2 am.

Similarly, on the Green Line connecting Madavara and Silk Institute, the last trains from both terminal stations will commence their journey at 2 am. The frequency of trains on both the Purple and Green Lines during the festive night will be maintained at eight minutes.

For the Yellow Line, the last train from RV Road to Bommasandra will start at 3.10 am. The final service in the opposite direction, from Bommasandra to RV Road, will depart earlier at 1.10 am. Trains on this line will run at a 15-minute frequency.

MG Road Station Closure and Alternative Arrangements

With huge crowds anticipated in the popular party hubs of MG Road, Brigade Road, and Church Street, the MG Road metro station will be closed for entry and exit from 10 pm on December 31. This is a crowd control measure for passenger safety.

Passengers are strongly advised to use the neighboring Trinity and Cubbon Park metro stations for boarding and alighting. The corporation has also issued an important warning regarding ticket sales: ticket counters at Trinity and Cubbon Park stations will stop selling tickets after 11 pm. Commuters are urged to purchase their return journey tickets in advance to avoid any last-minute inconvenience.

Plan Your Travel in Advance

BMRCL has stated that the increased service frequency will be maintained from 11.30 pm on December 31 until the end of the extended operations in the early hours of New Year's Day. These measures highlight the metro's role in managing the city's end-of-year celebrations efficiently.

Travelers heading to the central Bengaluru celebration zones should factor in the station closure and plan their route accordingly. Using the alternative stations and buying tickets beforehand will ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey back home.
