A helicopter returning from Badrinath with a family from Delhi made a precautionary landing in Tehri district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday after developing a technical fault, officials said. All seven people on board, including the pilot, are safe.
Incident Details
The helicopter, a private charter, was en route from Badrinath to Dehradun when the pilot detected a technical snag and decided to land in a field near Chamba in Tehri district. The aircraft belonged to a private operator and was carrying a family of six from Delhi along with the pilot.
District Disaster Management Officer Manoj Kumar said the pilot noticed a fault in the helicopter's rotor system and chose to land immediately as a precautionary measure. The landing was smooth, and no injuries were reported.
Passengers and Crew Safe
All seven occupants, including the pilot, are safe and have been provided with necessary assistance. The family members were reportedly on a religious trip to Badrinath, one of the Char Dham shrines in Uttarakhand. After the landing, they were taken to a nearby guest house for rest.
Technical teams have been dispatched to inspect the helicopter and ascertain the exact cause of the fault. The aircraft will be repaired or towed after a thorough inspection.
This incident comes amid the ongoing Char Dham Yatra season, which sees heavy helicopter traffic to the high-altitude shrines. Authorities have urged operators to ensure strict maintenance checks to avoid such incidents.
