Commuters on the Tiruttani–Arakkonam stretch are set to face disruptions over the next few weeks as Southern Railway has announced cancellations and partial curbs on EMU services due to ongoing engineering works.
As part of the exercise, EMU train services will be fully cancelled between April 26 and May 16, 2026, railway sources said on Sunday. The cancelled services include the train departing Tiruttani at 21:15 hours for Arakkonam and another train leaving Tiruttani at 21:10 hours to Arakkonam.
Similarly, the train leaving Arakkonam at 4:00 hours to Tiruttani and another departing at 5:00 hours for Tiruttani will remain cancelled from April 27 to May 17. In addition, train services have been partially cancelled between Tiruvalangadu and Arakkonam from April 26 to May 16. Railway sources further said that train services between Tiruttani and Tiruvalangadu were cancelled during the same period.
These measures are necessary to facilitate engineering works aimed at improving railway infrastructure on the route. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and check for updates from Southern Railway regarding alternative arrangements or rescheduled services.
