India Can Pressure Russia to End Ukraine War, Says Estonia's Foreign Minister
India Can Pressure Russia to End Ukraine War: Estonia FM

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has stated that India possesses significant leverage to pressure Russia into ending its war in Ukraine. He emphasized that any pressure on Moscow to alter its position and objectives would be welcomed, as both Ukraine and Europe are yearning for peace.

India's Strategic Position

Speaking to reporters, Tsahkna highlighted India's unique relationship with Russia, which includes deep historical ties, defense cooperation, and economic partnerships. He argued that New Delhi could use this influence to encourage Moscow to de-escalate the conflict. 'India has the ability to engage with Russia in a way that few other nations can,' he said.

Call for Global Action

The Estonian Foreign Minister also called on the international community to intensify efforts to bring about a diplomatic resolution. He noted that the war has caused immense suffering and destabilized global security. 'We need all responsible nations to step up, and India's role is crucial in this regard,' he added.

Tsahkna's remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the nearly two-year-long conflict. Ukraine and its European allies have repeatedly sought greater involvement from countries like India, which has maintained a neutral stance and called for dialogue.

India has so far avoided direct condemnation of Russia, instead urging both sides to resolve differences through talks. However, Tsahkna expressed optimism that India could play a more active role in pressing for peace. 'Even subtle shifts in Russia's stance would be a step forward,' he concluded.
