The wife of a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer lost her life in a tragic elephant attack in Karnataka's Kodagu district, police confirmed on Thursday.

The incident took place when the woman, identified as the spouse of a high-ranking IPS officer, encountered a wild elephant in the forested region. The attack occurred near her residence, and she sustained severe injuries.
Immediately after the attack, she was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, medical staff pronounced her dead upon arrival, as the injuries proved fatal. Police officials stated that the elephant had strayed into human habitation, leading to the unfortunate encounter.

Local forest and police personnel have been deployed to the area to track the elephant and prevent further incidents. Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid venturing into elephant-prone zones, especially during early morning and evening hours.
