Southwest Monsoon Likely to Enter Rajasthan Around June 24

Jaipur: The southwest monsoon is likely to enter Rajasthan around June 24, marking a delay from the normal onset date. The Met Office in Jaipur stated on Monday that pre-monsoon activity across the state will increase starting June 15. However, many places in Rajasthan witnessed a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures on Monday.

Pre-Monsoon Activity to Increase

The Met Office further indicated that with the onset of pre-monsoon activity from mid-June, incidents of thunderstorms and rainfall across Rajasthan are expected to increase. "If current weather conditions remain favorable, the southwest monsoon is expected to enter the state around June 24 and gradually advance across Rajasthan during the final week of the month, bringing widespread rainfall and significant relief from the prolonged summer heat," an official said.

Dust Storms and Rainfall

While several areas in the Alwar and Bharatpur divisions experienced dust storms, strong winds, and light to moderate rainfall during the afternoon, temperatures remained high in western districts on Monday. Sri Ganganagar recorded the highest temperature in the state at 45.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Phalodi at 44.8 degrees Celsius, Bikaner and Jaisalmer at 44.0 degrees Celsius each, Pilani at 43.8 degrees Celsius, and Churu at 43.5 degrees Celsius.
