Cold Snap & Fog Warning for Bhopal, MP During Holidays

Residents of Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh are advised to brace for a renewed bout of cold weather and foggy conditions as the holiday season approaches. This comes after a very marginal and temporary respite from the winter chill in the state capital.

Temperature Takes a Tumble in Bhopal

On Tuesday, Bhopal recorded a daytime temperature of 26.0 degrees Celsius, which was considered normal for this time of year. However, the night brought a significant chill, with the mercury dropping to 7.4 degrees Celsius. This nighttime reading was notably three degrees below the normal mark, signaling the return of colder conditions. The hill station of Pachmarhi experienced an even sharper cold, registering a minimum temperature of just 4.2 degrees Celsius.

Widespread Fog Grips Multiple MP Districts

The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for fog across numerous parts of the state. On Tuesday, reduced visibility due to fog was reported in several areas including Rewa, Satna, Damoh, Khajuraho, Naogaon, Sidhi, Datia, Ujjain, and Rajgarh. The forecast for Wednesday extends the fog alert to more districts: Datia, Bhind, Rewa, Satna, Gwalior, Morena, Singrauli, Sidhi, Mauganj, Panna, Tikamgarh, Niwari, and Maihar.

Official Forecast for Bhopal and the State

For Bhopal specifically, the meteorological department predicts a clear sky with hazy conditions prevailing on Wednesday. The expected day and night temperatures are 26 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius respectively, with an average wind speed of around ten kilometers per hour. The broader forecast for Madhya Pradesh emphasizes the continued threat of fog, which is likely to impact travel and daily life during the festive period.

This combination of dipping nighttime temperatures and dense fog warnings necessitates caution for commuters and those planning holiday travel. Authorities recommend checking weather updates regularly and taking necessary precautions while driving in low-visibility conditions.
