Gurgaon Sunny After Fog, IMD Forecasts Warmer Days Ahead

Gurgaon residents woke up to a foggy morning on Friday, but the skies cleared up beautifully as the day progressed. The India Meteorological Department recorded a sunny afternoon, marking a pleasant shift from the early haze.

Temperature Details and State-Wide Trends

The minimum temperature in Gurgaon settled at 4.9 degrees Celsius. This reading was 0.4 degrees lower than Thursday's figure, indicating a slight overnight chill.

Across Haryana, the average minimum temperature actually rose by 1.2°C compared to the previous day. However, it still remained 2.1°C below the normal seasonal average. Bhiwani recorded the coldest spot in the state, with the mercury dropping to 1.5°C.

Weather Systems at Play

IMD's latest bulletin highlights the influence of a western disturbance over the region. A strong subtropical westerly jet stream is currently active, with core winds reaching around 130 knots at an altitude of 12.6 kilometers above mean sea level. This system is affecting northwest India significantly.

Another fresh western disturbance is likely to approach the area starting January 19th. This could bring some changes to the prevailing weather patterns.

Forecast for the Coming Days

Haryana is expected to experience mostly dry conditions in the immediate future. However, light rain might occur at isolated places on January 19th and January 22nd.

The minimum temperature is forecast to rise gradually over the next week. Residents can expect an increase of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, bringing some relief from the current chill.

Fog Advisory and Safety Precautions

Despite the clear daytime weather, IMD has issued a caution regarding fog formation. Dense fog could develop at isolated places across Haryana in the coming days.

This fog is most likely to occur during late night and early morning hours. Drivers should exercise extra caution on highways and open stretches when visibility drops. Reduced speed and proper use of vehicle lights are recommended during these low-visibility periods.

The weather department continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as needed. Residents are advised to stay informed about changing conditions, especially if planning early morning travel.
