The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) has resolved to collect and analyze water samples from the flow areas of the Bandi, Jojari, and Luni rivers. Additionally, accumulated sludge in the Jojari River will be disposed of through scientific methods as part of measures to tackle pollution concerns.
Meeting to Review Supreme Court Compliance
This decision emerged during a meeting of senior board officials convened to review compliance with directives issued by the Supreme Court on May 29. The board is taking concrete steps to address environmental degradation in these river systems.
Action Plan for Sludge Disposal
RSPCB Chairperson Aparna Arora stated, “An action plan for sludge disposal has been prepared for Jodhpur, Pali, and Balotra. Sludge samples from the Jojari River will be collected and tested at accredited laboratories, and disposal will be carried out based on the findings.” This scientific approach ensures that the sludge is treated appropriately to minimize environmental impact.
Water Quality Assessment
Water samples from the Bandi, Jojari, and Luni river stretches will also be analyzed to assess pollution levels. The results will help the board determine the extent of contamination and implement further remedial measures.
Land Availability for Disposal
An official mentioned, “Land for sludge disposal in Balotra is expected to be made available this month.” The board is emphasizing environmental protection and the scientific management of pollution-related waste. These efforts align with the Supreme Court's directives to restore the health of these rivers.
