A tragic accident on the Vadodara-Halol highway in Gujarat's Vadodara district claimed six lives and left around 20 people injured in the early hours of Wednesday. The private luxury bus, en route from Rajasthan to Surat, collided with the rear of a parked truck near Kotambi village around 4 am, police reported.

According to Vadodara Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal, the truck had been stopped on the roadside as its driver was checking tyre pressure. The speeding bus then crashed into it. "The impact of the collision was severe, and the front portion of the bus was completely crushed," Agrawal said. "The injured were shifted to hospitals."

A majority of the passengers on the bus were from Rajasthan, the official added. Personnel from the Jarod police station in Vadodara rural quickly arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations. Due to the extensive damage to the bus, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were also called in to assist. Investigations are ongoing.
