BJP Yuva Morcha protests Bangladeshi infiltrators in Hubballi

Hubballi: Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha from the Hubballi-Dharwad East Assembly constituency staged a protest in the city on Wednesday, demanding action to curb the influx of Bangladeshi infiltrators arriving from West Bengal. The demonstrators gathered in front of the town police station and submitted a petition to the police department, urging authorities to take stringent measures.

Protest and Allegations

The protesters accused the state government of irresponsibility and alleged that it was attempting to appease the Muslim community. They raised slogans against the government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, expressing their discontent over the perceived lack of action.

Allegations by BJP Leader

Jayateertha Katti, the Dharwad divisional in-charge of the BJP, claimed that Bangladeshi infiltrators were illegally entering Hubballi from West Bengal under the guise of being daily wage workers. He demanded that the documents of individuals arriving from other regions be rigorously checked, illegal immigrants be identified, and strict action be taken against them.

Katti further stated that a large number of infiltrators from West Bengal were coming to various parts of the state. He called on the state government to investigate the matter and take appropriate action. “Even though such a large number of infiltrators are coming to the state, the government is silent, which probably shows that it is indirectly cooperating with them. The government should stop playing politics on the issue of national security,” he said.

Demands and Next Steps

The BJP Yuva Morcha members emphasized the need for immediate intervention to prevent illegal immigration. They urged the police to verify the backgrounds of newcomers and deport those found to be undocumented. The petition submitted to the police department outlines specific demands, including enhanced surveillance at transit points and coordination with authorities in West Bengal.
