Rourkela: In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, police busted an inter-state gambling racket on Monday and arrested two brothers believed to be the kingpins. The accused, identified as Dilip Panchari (59) and Bahana Panchari (48), are residents of Luakera under Sector-15 police station limits. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a large police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Manorajan Pradhan conducted a raid in the Luakera area. During the operation, law enforcement officials seized a substantial amount of assets linked to the illegal gambling network.

  • Cash: Rs 28,39,400
  • Vehicles: Three cars and four two-wheelers
  • Gold Jewellery: 405 grams
  • Equipment: One cash counting machine

The seizure underscores the scale of the racket, which is suspected to have operations spanning multiple states.

Official Statement

"The two brothers were arrested in this case, and further investigation is underway," said M R Pradhan, DSP, Rourkela. Authorities are probing the network's connections and possible involvement of other individuals.
