A seven-month-old Palestinian baby was killed during an Israeli military shooting near Hebron in the occupied West Bank. According to Palestinian officials and family members, infant Sam Fahd Abu Haikal was fatally struck by gunfire while traveling with his parents near Checkpoint 17 in the Tel Rumeida area on June 5.
The child's parents were also injured in the incident. The baby's grandmother said the family had stopped their vehicle after spotting Israeli soldiers and military vehicles ahead when shots were fired toward them. She alleged that a bullet struck the infant before also injuring his mother.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from Palestinian authorities and human rights groups. The Israeli military has not yet released an official statement regarding the shooting.
