In a tragic incident on Tuesday afternoon, three young brothers from the same family drowned in a pond located along the Narmada river in Gaman (Kelipada) village, Akkalkuwa taluka, Nandurbar district. The police confirmed that the victims were aged five, six, and seven years.
Details of the Incident
According to Assistant Inspector Dharamraj Patale of the Molgi police station, a group of children had gone to the pond near the river to take a bath around 2 pm. The three boys—identified as Sunil Vasave (5), Shubham Vasave (6), and Nitesh Vasave (7)—failed to judge the depth of the water and began drowning. The other children in the group raised an alarm, but by the time villagers arrived, the boys had already succumbed.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving information, personnel from the Mogli police station visited the scene and conducted a panchanama. The bodies were subsequently sent to the Molgi rural hospital for postmortem examination. Patale noted that the three children were from the same family, and their home was located barely 200 meters from the pond. He added that children in the area frequently visit the water body for bathing.
