Ranchi: Birsa Munda Airport is set to enhance the travel experience for passengers with the introduction of a children's play zone, a library, an affordable cafe, and a handicrafts stall. These new facilities will be inaugurated on Wednesday by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. The initiative is viewed as a significant step toward upgrading the airport to match the services available in metro cities.
New Amenities for Passengers
Airport Director Vinod Kumar announced that the facilities are designed to keep passengers engaged during waiting hours and provide a more relaxed airport experience. The new additions include a play zone for children, a library named Flybrary, and a dedicated stall called AVSAR (Airport as Venue for Skilled Artisans of the Region).
Showcasing Local Art and Culture
The AVSAR stall will display Jharkhand's renowned Sohrai and Khovar paintings, along with other handicrafts created by local artisans. Passengers will have the opportunity to purchase these paintings, allowing them to take a piece of Jharkhand's rich heritage while supporting the state's artisans.
Flybrary: A Library for Travelers
At the Flybrary corner, passengers can access a wide range of books free of cost during their wait. They may also borrow a book to read on their flight, with the condition that they return it to a library at their destination airport. This initiative aims to promote reading and make waiting times more enjoyable.

During his visit, the minister will also unveil a statue of tribal leader Birsa Munda, after whom the airport is named. These developments underscore the airport's commitment to improving passenger amenities and promoting local culture.
