Delhi Metro Extends Sunday Services for UPSC Candidates

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced an extension of its services on Sunday, June 2, to accommodate candidates appearing for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination. In a move to facilitate smooth travel for aspirants, metro trains will begin operations at 6:00 AM instead of the usual Sunday start time of 8:00 AM across all lines.

Early Start for Candidate Convenience

This early commencement is aimed at ensuring that thousands of candidates can reach their examination centers without any hassle. The DMRC stated that the decision was taken after considering the large number of examinees who rely on metro services for their commute. All metro corridors, including the Blue Line, Yellow Line, Red Line, and others, will adhere to the revised schedule.

Operational Details

Trains will run at regular intervals from 6:00 AM onward. The DMRC has also advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and check for any updates on official channels. Additional staff will be deployed at major stations to manage crowds and provide assistance. Security measures will be heightened, with thorough checks at entry points.

The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination is one of the most competitive exams in India, with over 10 lakh candidates registered this year. The exam will be held at numerous centers across Delhi-NCR. The DMRC's proactive step is expected to ease the commuting burden for many.

Previous Similar Initiatives

This is not the first time the Delhi Metro has extended services for major examinations. In the past, similar arrangements were made for banking and engineering entrance tests. The corporation often collaborates with exam conducting bodies to ensure public convenience.

Candidates are encouraged to use the metro as it remains the most reliable mode of transport in the national capital. The DMRC also reminded commuters to carry valid tickets or smart cards and to avoid carrying prohibited items to ensure a smooth journey.
