The Consulate General of India in Shanghai hosted a high-level interaction with a delegation from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), led by FICCI President Anant Goenka, on Thursday. The event brought together Indian industry representatives and Chinese business leaders to discuss strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
India's Economic Vision Highlighted
During the interaction, Consul General Pratik Mathur highlighted India’s economic transformation under the government’s “Viksit Bharat” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” vision. He emphasized that India’s policy focus on resilient supply chains, ease of doing business, digital public infrastructure, and manufacturing competitiveness supported by initiatives such as Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes creates significant opportunities for global partnerships.
Opportunities for Collaboration
Mathur noted that Eastern China, as a hub of advanced manufacturing and innovation, could become a key partner for India in co-developing industrial ecosystems, scaling investments, and promoting technology collaboration. He also outlined the strengths of Indian industry and reiterated FICCI’s role as a bridge between Indian and global businesses.
The Consul General further highlighted opportunities for collaboration in advanced manufacturing, green technologies, the digital economy, healthcare, and infrastructure, while calling for institutionalized industry linkages and sustained business-to-business engagement between India and regional enterprises.
Trade and Investment Discussions
The interaction also served as a platform for discussions on boosting trade, investment flows, and technological cooperation between India and China. According to the statement, participants expressed strong interest in exploring partnerships aligned with India’s economic growth trajectory and global integration efforts.
