India Rejects Pakistan's UN Remarks on Operation Sindoor as 'False and Self-Serving'
India Slams Pakistan's UN Remarks on Operation Sindoor

India delivered a sharp diplomatic rebuke to Pakistan at the United Nations on Monday, firmly rejecting Islamabad's characterization of Operation Sindoor as "false and self-serving." The Indian envoy emphasized that Pakistan maintains a singular focus on harming India and its citizens through state-sponsored terrorism.

Strong Rejection of Pakistan's Narrative

Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, directly addressed Pakistan's elected representative on the Security Council. He stated unequivocally that Pakistan has advanced a distorted account of the military operation conducted in May of the previous year.

"The facts on this matter are clear," Parvathaneni declared. "Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed 26 innocent civilians in a brutal attack in Pahalagam in April 2025." He reminded the international body that the UN itself had called for holding the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors of this terrorist act accountable and bringing them to justice.

India's Measured and Responsible Response

The Indian diplomat underscored that New Delhi's actions following the terrorist attack were deliberate and proportionate. "India's actions were measured, non-escalatory, and responsible," he explained, "and focused on dismantling the terrorist infrastructure and disabling terrorists."

Parvathaneni provided specific details about the military dynamics, noting that until May 9th, Pakistan had been threatening additional attacks against India. However, the situation shifted dramatically on May 10th when "the Pakistani military called our military directly and pleaded for a cessation to the fighting."

The ambassador pointed to publicly available evidence of the operation's effectiveness, stating that "the destruction caused to multiple Pakistani airbases by the Indian operation, including images of destroyed runways and burnt-out hangers, are in the public domain."

Rejecting Normalization of Terrorism

Addressing Pakistan's references to establishing a "new normal" in bilateral relations, the Indian representative delivered a firm response. "Let me reiterate again that terrorism can never be normalised as Pakistan wishes to do," he asserted.

Parvathaneni emphasized that "it is not normal to tolerate Pakistan's continued use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy." He warned against allowing the United Nations chamber to become a platform for Pakistan to legitimize terrorism through diplomatic channels.

The Indian envoy concluded with a strong commitment to national security: "We will do whatever is required to protect and ensure the safety and security of our citizens." This statement reinforced India's determination to take necessary measures against terrorist threats originating from Pakistani territory.

The exchange at the United Nations highlights the ongoing tensions between the neighboring nations regarding cross-border terrorism and appropriate responses to security threats. India's detailed rebuttal systematically addressed Pakistan's claims while presenting evidence of both the terrorist attack that prompted Operation Sindoor and the consequences of India's military response.
