RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, during his ongoing visit to the United States, has described the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a people's movement deeply rooted in civilisational values. Addressing a gathering of Indian diaspora members, Hosabale emphasized that the RSS is not a political organization but a cultural and social movement focused on character building and nation-building.
Civilisational Values and Social Service
Hosabale stated that the RSS draws its inspiration from India's ancient civilisational ethos, which prioritizes collective welfare over individual interests. He highlighted the organization's extensive work in education, healthcare, and disaster relief, both in India and abroad. The RSS, he said, operates on the principle of 'service before self' and has been instrumental in fostering a sense of national pride and unity among Indians.
Addressing Misconceptions
The RSS leader also addressed common misconceptions about the organization, clarifying that it is not a political outfit but a voluntary movement that encourages individuals to contribute to society. He noted that the RSS has over 50,000 daily shakhas (branches) across India and a significant presence in several countries, including the US, where it organizes community service activities.
Role of Indian Diaspora
Hosabale urged the Indian diaspora in the US to stay connected with their cultural roots and contribute to India's development. He praised the diaspora for their achievements and their role in strengthening India-US relations. The event was organized by various Hindu and Indian cultural organizations in the US.
Future Plans
Speaking about future plans, Hosabale mentioned that the RSS aims to expand its outreach globally, focusing on youth engagement and promoting Indian culture and values. He also emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living, aligning with the RSS's vision of a harmonious society.
The visit of the RSS general secretary to the US is seen as part of a broader effort to engage with the Indian diaspora and present the organization's perspective on various issues. Hosabale is scheduled to address multiple gatherings and interact with community leaders during his stay.
