In a commendable operation, the SWAT and surveillance team of Bahraich police has successfully recovered 101 lost mobile phones valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh. The achievement was highlighted during a program held at the Police Lines auditorium, where Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Srivastava personally handed over the recovered devices to their rightful owners on Sunday.
Operation Details
The recovery operation was conducted under the leadership of SWAT and surveillance in-charge Rakesh Singh. The dedicated team included sub-inspector Abhishek Singh, constables Pradeep Kushwaha, Nitin Awasthi, Anand Upadhyay, and personnel deployed on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. Leveraging the CEIR portal, which allows citizens to register complaints about missing mobile phones, the team traced and recovered 101 devices from various brands.
Handover Ceremony
During the event, a total of 49 individuals received their lost mobile phones. The recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude to the police for their relentless efforts in tracking down the devices. SP Vishwajeet Srivastava emphasized that complaints regarding missing phones had been registered on the CEIR portal by residents, which facilitated the recovery process.
Recognition and Rewards
To acknowledge the outstanding work, a cash reward of Rs 10,000 was announced for the officers and personnel involved in the operation. The event was also attended by ASP (city) Ayush Vikram Singh and ASP (rural) Durga Prasad Tiwari, who commended the team's dedication.
This initiative not only reunites citizens with their valuable possessions but also reinforces the police's commitment to leveraging technology for public service. The success of this operation serves as a model for other districts to follow in tackling mobile phone theft and loss.
