Bank Holidays Next Week: Banks Closed for 2 Days in Select States
Bank Holidays: December 1-7 Closure Schedule

Banking services across specific regions of India will experience temporary disruptions next week as the Reserve Bank of India has scheduled two state-specific holidays between December 1 and December 7, 2025. While banks nationwide will observe their regular Sunday closure on December 7, customers in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Goa should plan their financial transactions accordingly.

State-Wise Bank Holiday Schedule

Monday, December 1 marks the first banking holiday of the upcoming week. Financial institutions in the Itanagar region of Arunachal Pradesh will remain closed to observe State Inauguration Day, while banks in Kohima, Nagaland will shut down for Indigenous Faith Day celebrations.

Wednesday, December 3 will see banking operations suspended in the Panaji region of Goa. This closure honors the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, a significant religious observance in the coastal state.

Weekend Banking Availability

Contrary to some expectations, banks across India will remain operational on Saturday, December 6. Since it falls on the first Saturday of the month, customers can access full banking services as per the RBI's guidelines that only mandate closures on the second and fourth Saturdays each month.

The regular weekly closure occurs on Sunday, December 7, when all banking establishments nationwide will remain shut.

Digital Banking Services Remain Accessible

Despite physical branch closures, customers can continue managing their finances through multiple digital channels. Online banking services will operate without interruption throughout the holiday period, ensuring seamless access to essential financial operations.

Available services during bank holidays include:

  • NEFT and RTGS fund transfers
  • Demand draft and chequebook requests
  • Credit and debit card services
  • ATM transactions
  • Account maintenance requests
  • Standing instruction setup
  • Locker application processing

The Reserve Bank of India has designated 13 bank holidays for December 2025 in its official state-wise calendar for the 2025-26 fiscal year. These closures reflect India's diverse cultural landscape, accommodating national, regional, and religious observances across different states.
