Got a bank visit planned? You may want to check the dates first. Bank customers are being advised to plan their bank visits in advance as banks in several states are headed for holidays. Since these dates vary from state to state, officials are asking people to confirm their local branch status before visiting in person.
Between May 26 and May 28, 2026, several states will also see bank closures due to festivals and commemorative occasions.

May 26, 2026
Tripura and Sikkim will remain closed for the birth anniversary of Kazi Nazrul Islam.
May 27, 2026
Banks will be shut in a large number of states and Union Territories for Eid-ul-Adha (Bakri Eid)/Id-ul-Zuha, including Tripura, Gujarat, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland, West Bengal, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh.

Bank closures will be observed in Tripura, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Goa, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh for Bakri Eid (Id-Uz-Zuha).
Apart from these festival-related closures, banks across India also remain shut on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, in accordance with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines. This adds to the list of non-working days for physical branch operations and may impact customers planning routine banking work.
Digital banking services remain available
Despite the branch closures, digital banking services will continue to function without interruption. Customers will still be able to carry out transactions through online banking platforms, mobile applications, ATMs and UPI services, including fund transfers and bill payments.
However, services requiring physical presence at branches, such as cheque clearances, large cash deposits and demand draft issuance, will not be available on these days. Customers are therefore being advised to plan their banking activities in advance and rely on digital channels wherever possible to avoid inconvenience.
