Banks in several states across India remain closed today in observance of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakri Eid), also known as Id-ul-Zuha. Customers planning to visit branches are advised to check local holiday schedules in advance, as bank holidays differ from state to state and Union Territory to Union Territory.
Bank Closures on May 27
On May 27, banks will be shut in many parts of the country, including Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, and Kerala, due to the Eid-ul-Adha festivities. Customers should note that branch services such as cheque clearance, cash deposits, demand draft issuance, and other in-person banking activities may be affected during the holiday.
Regular Bank Holidays
Apart from festival-related closures, banks across India also remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, as per the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). These regular closures are in addition to the holiday for Eid-ul-Adha.
Digital Banking Services Unaffected
Importantly, digital banking services will continue to operate normally throughout the holiday. Customers can still access internet banking, mobile banking apps, ATMs, and UPI services for fund transfers, bill payments, and other transactions without any interruption.
Advice for Customers
Customers are advised to complete any important branch-related work in advance and make use of digital banking channels to avoid inconvenience. For those who need to visit a branch, checking the holiday schedule specific to their location is recommended.
