The central government has extended the tenure of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Ravi Agrawal by six months, according to an official order issued on June 30, 2026. The extension takes effect from July 1, 2026.

Details of the Extension

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the extension under the terms and conditions applicable to the post. Ravi Agrawal, a 1989-batch Indian Revenue Service officer, was appointed as CBDT chairman in February 2024 for a two-year term. The new extension adds six months to his tenure.
