Fuel prices have once again surged in Karnal, with petrol becoming costlier by 87 paise per litre and diesel by 91 paise per litre. This marks another increase in the ongoing trend of rising fuel costs, putting additional financial strain on residents.
Details of the Price Hike
According to the latest revision by oil marketing companies, the price of petrol in Karnal now stands at Rs 104.56 per litre, while diesel is priced at Rs 93.24 per litre. The hike was implemented on Saturday, continuing the pattern of frequent adjustments in fuel prices.
Impact on Consumers
The increase in fuel prices directly affects the common man, leading to higher transportation costs and a subsequent rise in the prices of essential commodities. Auto-rickshaw drivers, cab operators, and daily commuters are among the most impacted groups.
Experts suggest that the volatility in global crude oil prices and the depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar are key factors behind the continuous price revisions. The government has been urged to intervene and provide relief to consumers.
Comparison with Previous Rates
Just a day earlier, petrol was being sold at Rs 103.69 per litre and diesel at Rs 92.33 per litre in Karnal. The current hike has added nearly a rupee to both fuels, making it one of the significant single-day increases in recent months.
Consumers are advised to check the latest prices before refueling, as rates may vary slightly across different fuel stations due to local taxes and logistics.
