The state Goods and Services Tax (GST) department has lodged police complaints against three local firms in Ludhiana, accusing them of engaging in cheating and forgery. The first case was filed at the Daba police station after inspectors discovered that a company had utilized falsified identification documents to fraudulently obtain an official GST registration number.
Additional Cases Registered
Separately, the Shimlapuri police registered two more cases against two distinct businesses. Authorities allege that these operators used active GST profiles to submit fabricated electronic records and financial statements, aiming to evade taxes and defraud the department.
Legal Actions Taken
Police have registered the cases under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy. The investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the fraudulent activities.
