The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to establish a strategic and advisory collaboration. This partnership is aimed at developing a single window clearance system for the ambitious 11,300-crore New Nagpur Business District project.
MoU Signed at National Conference
The agreement was formalized in New Delhi during the national conference on '16th Finance Commission and Local Public Finance System,' jointly organized by ICAI and the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA). Through this collaboration, NMRDA seeks to strengthen the ease of doing business, enhance digital governance systems, and improve investor facilitation through transparent and technology-driven mechanisms.
Key Highlights from the Conference
Metropolitan Commissioner Sanjay Meena attended the conference as the chief guest and chaired a panel discussion on 'Innovative financial models for local self-government bodies.' During his address, Meena emphasized the growing importance of financially sustainable and technology-enabled urban governance systems, especially in the context of rapid urbanization across India. He also shared details of NMRDA's major infrastructure initiatives, including the New Nagpur Project, Outer Ring Road, and multimodal connectivity infrastructure corridors.
