Petrol, diesel prices hiked 87-91 paise; cumulative rise nears Rs 5

NEW DELHI: Petrol and diesel prices were increased by 87 to 91 paise per litre on Saturday, taking the cumulative rise in retail fuel rates to nearly Rs 5 per litre in less than 10 days, as state-owned oil companies passed on rising international crude prices.

The latest revision pushed petrol prices up by 87 paise per litre and diesel by up to 91 paise across the country, according to industry sources. These back-to-back hikes follow a prolonged freeze in retail fuel prices and come amid elevated global crude oil rates, tightening refining margins, and a weaker rupee, all of which have sharply increased import costs.
