The income tax department (North-West Region) launched PRARAMBH 2026 at Aayakar Bhawan in Sector 17, Chandigarh, on Thursday, aiming to promote awareness about the Income Tax Act, 2025.
Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach Programs
Principal Chief Commissioner Mayank Priyadarshi emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement for effective implementation of the new law. He announced that 22 outreach programs would be conducted across the region on June 16. Priyadarshi urged wider dissemination of the changes introduced in the new legislation.
Simplified Compliance Through Digital Tools
CIT (Administration) Abhishek Pal Garg stated that the Act has been simplified to improve ease of compliance. PRARAMBH focuses on digital tools, educational material, and field outreach to facilitate a citizen-friendly filing process. The initiative aims to make tax filing more accessible and less cumbersome for taxpayers.
Events and Participation
The launch event featured a session by former Chief Commissioner Ashok Kumar Jha and a live demonstration of an AI chatbot designed to assist taxpayers. The program saw participation from chartered accountants, tax practitioners, and traders. Officials said the initiative is intended to ensure a smooth transition to the new tax regime.
